IRBP + PTX-induced uveitis model
IRBP + PTX-induced uveitis model
Background
The most common method for establishing EAU is active immunization of experimental animals with antigens. Purified antigenic proteins or synthetic antigens are usually injected subcutaneously. Immunization can be performed via unilateral footpad injection, supplemented by subcutaneous injections at the tail base and hind legs.
During EAU induction, antigen immunization requires immune adjuvants such as complete Freund’s adjuvant fortified with inactivated Mycobacterium tuberculosis and pertussis preparations.
Materials and methods
Balb/c mice (male or female, 6–8 weeks old)
Modeling method: The IRBP protein emulsion (IRBP + FCA) was injected together with pertussis toxin (PTX). The uveitis model was successfully established 14 days later.
Evaluation indicators: fundus imaging score, serum ELISA, HE staining and scoring
