Femoral defect model established by drilling
Femoral defect model established by drilling
Background
Bone defect refers to the disruption of bone structural integrity caused by congenital or acquired factors.
In recent years, various medical fields such as tissue engineering have advanced, yet bone defect remains a difficult clinical condition with a persistently high amputation rate.
Establishment of a rabbit femoral cave bone defect model provides an ideal animal model for the research and development of novel drugs for the diagnosis and treatment of femoral cave bone defects.
Materials and methods
New Zealand white rabbits (either gender, 2–2.5 kg)
Modeling method: A hole cavity of a certain size was drilled through the cortex and trabeculae on the lateral side of the lateral femoral condyle to establish a femoral cave bone defect model.
Evaluation indicators: HE staining, Masson staining, immunohistochemistry
