MSU-induced gouty arthritis model

Background
Acute gouty arthritis is caused by elevated blood uric acid, which leads to the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in joint tissues including the joint capsule, synovium, cartilage and bone, triggering synovial and periarticular tissue damage and inflammatory reactions. Since gouty arthritis is induced by the stimulation of joint tissues from urate crystal deposition, the monosodium urate (MSU) induction method is commonly used internationally to establish animal models of gout.
Materials and methods
SD rats (male, 6–8 weeks old)
Modeling method: Intra-articular injection of monosodium urate (MSU) suspension into the ankle joint to induce a gouty arthritis model.
Positive drug: Benzbromarone
Evaluation indicators: General observation, swelling rate changes
Test and verify

Gross observation of the ankle joint

Swelling rate of the joint
