Inferior vena cava incomplete ligation-induced deep vein thrombosis model
Inferior vena cava incomplete ligation-induced deep vein thrombosis model
Background
In this experiment, a rat model of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) was established by constricting the inferior vena cava (IVC), together with clamping and ligating all tributaries of the IVC from the renal vein to the iliac vein level.
Ligation of the rat inferior vena cava with thick silk thread induces local blood stasis and hypoxia, resulting in vascular endothelial injury and further activating the intrinsic coagulation system. Meanwhile, aggregated platelets and locally produced coagulation factors are detained at the stenosis site due to blocked blood flow, eventually leading to thrombus formation.
Materials and methods
SD rats (male, approximately 200 g)
Modeling method: Incomplete ligation of the inferior vena cava for 7 days to successfully establish a deep vein thrombosis model.
