β-aminopropionitrile-induced aortic dissection model

Background
It has been confirmed that angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang-Ⅱ) plays a key role in the formation of aortic dissection (AD). Given the hypertensive effect of Ang-Ⅱ and its impact on vascular wall structure, numerous scholars at home and abroad have established AD models in mice via subcutaneous implantation of Ang-Ⅱ osmotic pumps or intraperitoneal injection of Ang-Ⅱ. β-aminopropionitrile (BAPN), a lysyl oxidase inhibitor, impairs the structural integrity of the arterial wall by inhibiting the cross-linking of collagen and elastin. Studies have demonstrated that continuous administration of BAPN in drinking water to C57 mice induces medial arterial degeneration, ultimately leading to the development of aortic dissection and aortic aneurysms.
Materials and methods
C57BL/6 mice (male, 3 weeks old)
Modeling method: β-aminopropionitrile (BAPN) was added to drinking water for 4 weeks. Subsequently, angiotensin II was intraperitoneally injected twice to successfully establish the aortic dissection model.
Evaluation indexes: HE staining, Masson staining
