Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced periodontitis model
Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced periodontitis model
Background
Clinically, local irritants such as dental plaque are the main pathogenic factors of periodontitis. However, some subtypes including rapidly progressive periodontitis and juvenile periodontitis cannot be fully explained merely by local pathogenic factors. In the pathogenesis of these periodontal diseases, systemic factors of the host also play a vital role.
Materials and methods
SD rats (male, 6–8 weeks old)
Modeling method: After supragingival ligation, Porphyromonas gingivalis was injected into the gingiva once every two days. The periodontitis model was successfully established after 8 weeks.
Evaluation indexes: general observation, HE staining
