Shrimp tropomyosin-induced Behçet’s disease model
Shrimp tropomyosin-induced Behçet’s disease model
Background
Behçet\'s disease, also known as Behçet syndrome, is a systemic immune disorder and a type of vasculitis. It can involve multiple organs throughout the body, including the mouth, skin, joints and muscles, eyes, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and nervous system. The main clinical manifestations include recurrent oral and genital ulcers, skin rashes, erythema nodosum of the lower extremities, ocular iritis, esophageal ulcers, small intestinal or colonic ulcers, as well as joint swelling and pain. Immunological challenge of mice with shrimp tropomyosin can trigger systemic inflammatory responses and partially simulate the typical symptoms of Behçet\'s disease.
Materials and methods
BALB/c mice (both male and female, 4 weeks old)
Modeling method: Repeated intraperitoneal injection of emulsion mixed with shrimp tropomyosin and complete Freund’s adjuvant. The Behçet’s disease model was successfully established 7 days after the last injection.
Positive drug: Prednisone acetate solution
Evaluation index: HE staining
