Type 2 diabetic retinopathy model induced by STZ combined with high-fat diet
Type 2 diabetic retinopathy model induced by STZ combined with high-fat diet
Background
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most common microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus.
It refers to a series of fundus lesions caused by retinal microvascular leakage and occlusion resulting from chronic progressive diabetes, including microaneurysms, hard exudates, cotton-wool spots, neovascularization, vitreous proliferation, macular edema, and even retinal detachment.
Materials and methods
SD rats (male, 8 weeks old)
Modeling method: A type 2 diabetes mellitus model was established by high-glucose and high-fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injection of STZ, followed by continuous feeding for 3 months to successfully prepare a type 2 diabetic retinopathy model.
Evaluation indicators: blood glucose measurement, HE staining
