Type II collagen emulsion-induced ankylosing spondylitis model
Type II collagen emulsion-induced ankylosing spondylitis model
Background
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a type of rheumatoid arthritis and a systemic disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the axial joints. Lesions mainly occur in the sacroiliac joints and spinal joints, and may also involve the hip joints and knee joints. Type II collagen is an extracellular matrix protein isolated from tissues such as articular cartilage and intervertebral disc nucleus pulposus. Repeated immunization of BALB/c mice with type II collagen emulsion can induce enthesitis and spondylitis in mice.
Materials and methods
BALB/c mice (male, 12 weeks old)
Modeling method: Mice were immunized three times with type II collagen emulsion at the 1st, 3rd and 6th weeks by intradermal injection at multiple points along the spine.
Evaluation indicators: gross observation, HE staining
